I had entered about a dozen trials in October and as the emails dropped into my inbox with results of the draws i found i had been lucky for a change and had got 3 runs in 5 days...!
The first run was with Dex in an Open with the Yorkshire Gundog Club, the ground didn't really suit us to be honest and we came away with a COM. Two days later we were back out again this time it was Ruby's turn, the Trial was a Novice with the Yorkshire again, but we were high on the Moor and running in Heather. Rubz had a really long runs in hot conditions, she coped we enough to get a COM and the Guns choice. I did contemplate if the day had taken anything out of her because the following day she was running in Shropshire with the Welsh and English Counties in bramble and bracken woodland but as things turned out i had no need to worry. Her first run was a long one again, over 40 minutes, but she maintained a pace a drive and eventually our flush and retrieve came, her second run was shorter, she had dropped a gear but we got through it well enough to eventually win the trial on ice.
