2017 will have to go down as my most successful year to date, i ran 2 dogs, Dex and Rubz.
Dex only ran in only a few Open picking up COMS and a Guns Choice.
Rubz was more successful winning a novice and then an Open and then loosing 2 days after her Open win in a run off which would have made her a Ftch if she would have won.
6 years ago when i started trialing my ultimate goal was to make it to the Championships so to achieve that goal ahead of the time frame i had set myself was a very special feeling. i think i prepared for it as well as i could have and things seamed to keep falling into place on the lead in to the trial
so i thought the luck was with me. Unfortunately my run didn't go to plan and our run soon came to an abrupt end, Rubz was wound up pretty tight, and her "hectic" approach to her hunting on the day resulted in her missing a bird, she is only a youngster and can at time still be very immature, i think and hope she will be a better dog next year with a bit more maturity. So our Championship ended a little prematurely but i certainly learned a lot from it and i will be better prepared if i ever get lucky enough to qualify another dog.
