West Lancs Gundog Club. AV Novice & Open Spaniel Test

I had a very enjoyable day judging for Nick Powell and the West Lancs'

These days are always a great opportunity to catch up with old friends and to make a few new one's.

The weather in general was good, and myself and my co judge Bryan Whittaker were give free rein by the club to set the challenges to the dogs were going to face.

it was a good turn out of competitors for both the Novice and Open and as always varying degrees of capabilities of both dog and handler. the eventual winner of the Novice was Chinachgook Gleneagles ESS handled by Paul Matthews a really strong powerful hunting dog that has a terrific future under Paul's guidance.

The winner of the Open was decided by a run off between Edgrove Stitch of Cudannsa ESS handled by Louise Allen and Broomfield Lady Nevis ESS handled by Paul Matthews, these dogs were very close and it was extremely hard to pick a winner but both myself and Bryan decided that Louise's dog had just edged it, Edgrove Stitch of Cudannsa will have a very big future im sure,
